So over the next few weeks, I’m going to share them all with you in the first ever JKS Battle of the Zoos. Each had their advantages and disadvantages, and it was hard not to compare them in my mind. Home to more than 11,000 animals representing nearly 600 species from around the globe, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium leads and inspires by connecting people and wildlife. This exhibit is just plain awesome The main area of the exhibit really makes you feel like you are on an African savanna. In a span of 4 months, I visited 4 different zoos. Hersberger’s Farm is home to a petting zoo where kids can pet farm animals. Meaningful exposure to these animals can encourage the development of lifestyles and attitudes that lead to better conservation efforts around the world. They also provide educational opportunities for people (especially children) who might never get to see these animals otherwise. Good zoos help curb that loss through conservation breeding programs, some of which are so successful that they’ve not only prevented extinction, but bumped a species right back up to the level of Least Concern. Pacific Time, youre watching the live cam while its daytime in San Diego. The earth is currently experiencing the worst “mass extinction event” in 65 million years, with significant percentages of every class of animal threatened with extinction in the near future. I know they have a lot of opponents who feel that zoos are an unnecessary form of animal captivity, but the fact is that good zoos provide sanctuary and conservation for many species that struggle to survive in the wild. 9:00 p.m 48 lounge 1221 avenue of the americas new york, n.y. I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I was just frustrated because I've been looking for some kind of tips and tricks thread and I thought I had found one untill I read all the posts. wait a minute, that's not a tip or a trick at all! #Wii sports golf practice game free"I heard that everybody really HATES boxing for some reason.īut hey, its a free game!" - this a is great tip. "Line up with the second dot on the right and throw straight, Fairly easy to get a trike or at elast 8 pins down." - that may work for you, but different people throw differently and are going to have different results. To anyone else posting in this thread, I beg you, give us some help based on your experiences in the game, but just things like: Oh one more thing, I hear that in 'power throws' in bowling practice, if you drive it right down the right rail on the last shot that it will cause some kind of domino effect and knock all of the pins down, helping your score out a lot! I find that it is the most finicky to get the control movements into the right type of character movement. I am not going to touch boxing because I'm not much good at it. The timing is tricky but keep practicing and trying different things untill something works for you then try to refine it. Same thing they do in real life and it works for them. When you are batting, I find that it is good to take a practice swing or 2 if you have time. If you just sit there for a bit doing nothing, then you will get a little onscreen help that explains it. It's tricky to flick your wrist slowly, but it does work not too badly after a bit of mussing about getting the hang of it.īaseball when you are pitching simply hold down a and/or b to put different types of curves and spins on the ball. If you use a shorter stroke and sort of flick your wrist you may have a bit more luck. That's what seems to work for me anyways. If you are spinning it to the left, it should hit squarely on the right hand side of the pin. #Wii sports golf practice game tv(rotate as in the way you rotate your bike when you are about to make a turn a high speed) If you have ever watched a bowler run a perfect strike on tv then you know where to hit the head pin. If you rotate the controller at the end of your swing the ball will spin in that direction. I've tried a few different things like holding down a and/or b while hitting the ball, or holding the controller at different angles but I seem to have mixed results.īowling I think I've got as figured out as possible. In tennis, it is obviously possible to put spin on the ball, but I really can't seem to figure out what works to actually spin it. That being said, I don't have much in the way of tips and tricks but I've been looking and not finding anything either which sucks because I know that there is more to it than I have figured out so far. Lets see some more helpful bits of advice! For a tips and tricks thread I don't really see much in the way of tips and tricks. (You can click on one of the images above to enlarge it) Here’s what we know about the world of the game specifically. Rod Fergusson, formerly Studio Head of The Coalition, is now the head of the Diablo franchise and will no doubt bring his own touch to Diablo 4. Blizzard has also released some concept art for the game. The reveal cinematic and the first gameplay trailer further emphasized this harsh, oppressive tone. Bleak tones and Gothic architecture dominate the visuals. The art style and mood are grittier, meant to evoke the harshness of the world, like in Diablo II. #Diablo 4 concept art series#Veteran fans of the series will notice that Diablo 4 is taking a much darker tone all around. We’ve written up a recap of background information that players should know, as well as what we know about the story and lore in Diablo 4 so far.Rod Fergusson, former Studio Head of The Coalition, is now head of the Diablo franchise. There has been no word on enhancements or version for next-generation consoles, though it seems likely it’ll receive special support on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PS5. Diablo 4 is coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.Diablo 4 is using a new custom engine, which allows for better lighting, weather effects, and more.As for the other Lesser Evils and the Prime Evils, Blizzard says we’ll have to wait to find out. Duriel, one of the Lesser Evils and the Lord of Pain, is returning. The story takes place a decade after the events of Diablo 3 and the angels in Heaven are not answering humanity’s pleas for help. She fell in love with the archangel Inarius, which led to the creation of Sanctuary and the Nephalem race, ancestors of humanity. The main antagonist is the demon Lilith, daughter of Mephisto (Lord of Hatred), one of the creators of Sanctuary, and Queen of Succubi. Here’s a summary of everything else that we know about Diablo 4’s gameplay and features so far. Throughout 2020, Blizzard released quarterly updates showcasing the early design decisions, which continued through December 2020 where the team talked about everything from legendary items to skill trees. My hope now is that you can transform me into something better. The thing transforms us but into what? Love turned me into something else back then with Beck.
There will always be 3 specific colored monsters to defeat, 3 statues to erect at the randomly arranged building sites, 3 offerings to be delivered to specific colored temples, and 3 shrines to be erected on islands matching your player color.īefore starting the game, you will get 3 dice that have six different symbols (colors) on their faces and these dice will dictate which colors you will have at your disposal to carry out actions on your turn actions such as moving your ship, collecting an offering from an island, or fighting a monster. In The Oracle of Delphi (OoD), Zeus has set out 12 different tasks for you to complete and you are racing to be the first person to accomplish all twelve. Whereas all of Feld’s other titles are won by the person with the most victory points or money, The Oracle of Delphi is won by the first person to reach the finish line. As of this writing, it still stands out as Feld’s first, and only, racing game. Out of those 3, The Oracle of Delphi was the only one that wasn’t a reimplementation of his earlier work. Today we’re going to talk about 2016’s The Oracle of Delphi, his 24th game.Ģ016 was a big year for Stefan Feld with the release of 3 different titles - The Castles of Burgundy: The Card Game, Jórvik, and this one. It’s my hope that by the time I get to writing about that title I’ll own it too. With the exception of 1 of his older games, I have hunted down and collected every title he has ever put out. #Color oracle review seriesIn this series of reviews, I am working my way backwards through Stefan Feld’s entire catalogue. Just browse the below and see if anything catches your eye.Hello and welcome to ‘Focused on Feld’. With that in mind, we asked Wen, Dore, and three other experts about their favorite decks - though just because they are their favorites doesn’t mean they have to be yours, too. Specifically, “one that you feel that makes you feel seen,” says Wen. The most important thing is to find a deck with art that speaks to you. Ignore the myth that have to be gifted your first deck and buy one for yourself. Tarot de Marseilles is the oldest, out of Italy, and lastly, Thoth and Golden Dawn centers around the occult. Rider-Waite-Smith is the most common and good for beginners. There is no shortage of decks out there, but to narrow it down, pick one of the three main systems to follow. “Now it seems to be more of a psychologically oriented tool for people,” says Wen. By the late 18th century, occult circles started using tarot as a form of divination - a way to contact angels and demons and perform ceremonial magic. But the Christian and European symbolism is what stuck. Thanks to trade between Northern Africa and Europe, bits of each culture went into creating tarot. It’s commonly believed that tarot came out of Northern Italy in the 1400s, but many Asian and African cultures contributed to tarot as we know it today, says Benebell Wen, reader, tarot-deck reviewer, and author of Holistic Tarot. Wen explains that playing cards originated in China in the 1300s, and the Mongol Empire brought them west when they ruled over Egypt and most of the Mediterranean. “We’re needing to access our ability to make meaning and understand our realities.” “Tarot is a set of images that - depending on which deck you’re working with - can be very activating and stirring for the soul,” says tarot reader and author of Tarot for Change Jessica Dore. She says that it makes a lot of sense that we’re collectively drawn to tarot right now. They’ve been around for centuries, but have become increasingly mainstream, especially in the last year and a half of the pandemic. For some, TikTok might be your first experience with tarot, which is, simply put, a deck of 78 cards depicting images traditionally used for divination fortune-telling and as a tool for spiritual and psychological introspection. If you’re anything like me, your For You page on TikTok is filled with tarot readers who declare, “If you’re seeing this, it’s for you.” They’re promising abundance, a new job, and the return of your ex. That’s why you need to make your Spanish learning experience as non-academic and fun as possible. If you’re like me, it’s been a fair few years since you sat in a classroom. So I like to read novels in Spanish by the crime drama author author Manuel Vázquez Montalbán (it helps that his main character the private detective Pepe Carvalho loves to eat and drink – so that part also connects with my interest in food) Tip 3: Make your learning experience non-academic For example, I love murder mystery and thriller books. Reading in a foreign language is hard enough, so make sure you’re choosing material that’s engaging for you. I want to learn spanish in spanish pro#Pro Tip: When I’m choosing Spanish books to read, I make sure to pick titles that will be easygoing and enjoyable for me to read. How do you figure out what kind of language learner you are? Just be conscious of whether hearing or reading a word really helps the word stick in your mind – that’s all! For example, I try to make sure that every second book I read is in Spanish (I don’t always succeed!). So now I’m very conscious of including lots of Spanish reading into my learning. It doesn’t get engrained into my memory in the same way.īy realising this, I quickly learned that I need to be proactive about ensuring reading is a big part of my Spanish learning system. However, when I hear a Spanish word, while it helps me to learn it, I don’t truly grasp it. I need to see the letters and the spelling to really get it engrained into my memory. Only when I read a new Spanish word do I feel like I truly grasp and learn it. What I mean by this is whether you’re a visual learner or auditory learner. You have to figure out what type of language learner you are. This is an important one and took me a while to realise. I want to learn spanish in spanish free#While with Italki you can browse different teachers and their profiles (more like a marketplace) as well as watch an introductory video for each one before you choose who to select (and of course you can always change teacher).Ĭlick here to check out LiveLingua (they offer a free class) Tip 2: Know What Kind Of Language Learner You Are I want to learn spanish in spanish trial#LiveLingua pairs you with actual professional teachers, and offers a free trial class. The two most recommended were italki and LiveLingua. To help narrow them down for you, I surveyed my audience to see which companies people found most helpful. There are A LOT of companies that offer conversation classes. I’ve had a lot of readers and YouTube viewers tell me they get a lot of value out of paid conversation classes over Skype. And they’re not necessarily professional language teachers. The downside? It’s a much slower way to learn. That means you find a native Spanish speaker who wants to also learn English and you have conversations over Skype where you speak English half the time, and they speak Spanish half the time. Through Conversation Exchange you can find people who want to do language exchanges (in Spanish these are called intercambios). Of course, not everyone marries a native Spanish speaker (thought it’s always an option!) So what are the other options for starting to speak Spanish. But this really helped me get a head start, and start hearing the language in action. Keep in mind, my Spanish was almost non existent that this point. When Yoly and I decided to move to Spain, we immediately started speaking in Spanish as much as possible. And also create some accountability given you need to get better to be able to communicate with the person. Speaking to someone bring the language to life, and motivates you. Don’t try and get to a certain level before you find a conversation partner. You need to start practicing speaking with someone in Spanish as soon as possible. I only recommend tools and services I use and/or are recommended to be my trusted sources. Note: Some of the links below are affiliated, which means that at no extra cost to you, you are helping to support the free content I provide on Spain Revealed. And also I’ve written this blog post to provide a little more information, as well as links to all the tools I recommend. Yoly and I made the video below with our tips and experiences. So how did I learn Spanish? And what are my tips for learning Spanish? And what tools do I recommend? So I HAD TO learn Spanish – otherwise, I wouldn’t be able to communicate with her mother, her brother or, well, anyone! And had zero knowledge of the language.īut our plan was to move to Spain within a year or so. I faced this same dilemma when I met my wife Yoly, and we decided to move to Spain from my home country of New Zealand. The fact that you’re reading this blog show’s you’re a very smart person.īut. Where do you start? Are you even capable?įirst of all, yes you are capable. But learning and studying a language is hard. The German juggernaut had overrun Austria, Czechoslovakia, France, Belgium, Holland, Norway, Russia. I should like to repeat the words of Winston Churchill spoken exactly thirty-three years ago today. There have been dark days in every nation. There is too much fruitless, carping criticism of America. Is it not a miracle that through these two centuries of time our system of government has remained intact, our Constitution has held while storms have beaten about us from within and without? In a few months we shall celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the founding of the nation. Of it, the great Gladstone said, “As the British Constitution is the most subtle organism which has proceeded from progressive history, so the American Constitution is the most wonderful work ever struck off at a give time by the brain and purpose of man” (“Kin Beyond the Sea,” North American Review, September 1878). The Constitution under which we live is the keystone of our nation. To me it is a miracle, a creation of the Almighty. But surely this is a good land, a choice land, a chosen land. We have heard so much of them for so long. No land is without its beauty, no people without their virtues, and I hope that you who come from elsewhere will pardon my saying a few words concerning my own native land, America. I have marveled at the beauty of the earth, the wonder and magnificence of God’s creations, as I have seen them in every part of the world. I appreciate your people, their innate goodness, their art, their industry, their strength. I think I have been in all of the lands from which you come. I know that there are many here who come from other lands. I should like to say a few words about America. When I was a boy our father often said to us:ĭoubters do not achieve. What I am suggesting and asking is that we turn from the negativism that so permeates our society and look for the remarkable good in the land and times in which we live, that we speak of one another’s virtues more than we speak of one another’s faults, that optimism replace pessimism, that our faith exceed our fears. Clever expression that is sincere and honest is a skill to be sought and cultivated. I am not suggesting that our conversation be all honey and blossoms. Wise is the man who can acknowledge mistakes pointed out by others and change his course. I am not asking that all criticism be silenced. I am suggesting that we “accentuate the positive.” I am asking that we look a little deeper for the good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment virtue and effort. I come this morning with a plea that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. Even in the Church it sows the seed of inactivity and finally apostasy. Criticism is the forerunner of divorce, the cultivator of rebellion, sometimes a catalyst that leads to failure. In our homes wives weep and children finally give up under the barrage of criticism leveled by husbands and fathers. The snide remark, the sarcastic gibe, the cutting down of associates-these, too often, are of the essence of our conversation. In many instances this spirit has become the very atmosphere of university campuses. To hear tell these days, there is nowhere a man of integrity among those holding political office. Criticism, fault-finding, evil speaking-these are of the spirit of the day. The tragedy is that this spirit is epidemic. Said I, “Surely this is the age and place of the gifted pickle sucker.” At the conclusion of that week, I too made a negative observation. With studied art they poured out the sour vinegar of invective and anger, judging as if all wisdom belonged to them. The columnists were masters of the written word. They were men of incisive language, scintillating in expression. In all that week of morning watching and reading I never heard nor read among the commentators and editorialists a single paragraph of positive thought. The amount of venom that spewed from the mouths and pens of the commentators was unbelievable. President Ford had just granted a pardon to his predecessor. Each morning I watched the early news on television and then read the morning paper while eating breakfast. Recently I spent the better part of a week in Washington, D.C., living in a hotel room. I ask that the Lord will help me to say something that will help you. It is good to be here with you this morning, my dear young friends. |
